About the Author

I have a passion for sports, be it playing, watching, or writing. I enjoy watching professional basketball, football, and tennis. I treat sports almost as a field of study, watching highlights and attempting to learn the X’s and O’s of each sport. This deep interest in analyzing sports, combined with my longtime interest in writing, makes sports journalism a true passion for me and fuels my work as a contributor for Yahoo! Sports, Bleacher Report, and SB Nation.
I am also the founder and former editor-in-chief of The Penn Sport Report, a student-run sports magazine at the University of Pennsylvania. I am a member of three professional organizations: the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association, the Football Writers Association of America, and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association.
As a physician, I am particularly interested in topics at the intersection of medicine and professional sports. For example, I am intrigued by sports-related skin diseases, such as methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections in professional athletes, and have interviewed multiple practicing dermatologists to help educate those outside of medicine about these conditions. I am also interested in musculoskeletal injuries and rehabilitation. As such, I have written many articles on surgical repairs of torn ligaments and tendons in addition to interviewing orthopaedic surgeons. I am also intrigued by the ongoing problem of concussions in football players and how the field of medicine can help resolve the issue. In fact, I have interviewed Andrea Kremer, who stands at the forefront of player injuries and concussions as the Chief Correspondent of Player Health and Safety for the NFL Network. I have also interviewed former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mike Boryla, whose career ended prematurely due to concussions just after making his first Pro Bowl.
Other areas of interest include statistics in sports (e.g. analytics in basketball), player scouting (e.g. NFL mock drafts), salary cap rules in the NFL and NBA, and play design in basketball and football.
